So better stock up on popcorn and drinks because these movies will keep you occupied. Take your pick from these must-watch Pinoy films – Ulan, Alone/Together, Mina-Anud, Born Beautiful, Tol, and Sakaling Maging Tayo.

Pinoy Must Watch Films this 2019

1. Ulan (March 22)

Ulan is a romantic drama written and directed by Irene Villamor. It stars Carlo Aquino (Peter) and Nadine Lustre (Maya) and is the first movie that doesn’t star Nadine and her boyfriend James Reid together. If you’ve seen the image of Carlo and Nadine taking shelter from the rain at a shed, it’s from the movie Ulan, a movie about self-love and self-acceptance. Ulan is about a young woman Maya, who grew up fearful but fascinated by the rain.

2. Alone/Together (February 13)

The movie stars Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil star and is directed by Antoinette Jadaone. The romance drama follows the love story of Christine (Soberano) and Raf (Gil), who meet again eight years after their first meeting in college.

3. Mina-Anud (December 31)

Based on a true story, Mina-Anud is a film with themes of comedy and crime. Directed by Kerwin Go, the film stars Dennis Trillo, Jerald Napoles, and Matteo Guidicelli. Paradise is upturned when three tons of cocaine were washed up on the shores of Eastern Samar, Philippines. Two surfers now decide to take advantage of the situation and start selling the drugs, risking both family and their freedom.

4. Born Beautiful (January 23)

Born Beautiful is the sequel to Die Beautiful (2016), which revolved around a Filipino transgender woman who suddenly dies while being crowned in a beauty pageant. Born Beautiful follows the story of Barbs (Martin del Rosario) who now has to find her purpose and live her truth. The upcoming film is directed by Perci Intalan that co-stars Paolo Ballesteros.

5. Tol (January 30)

Under the direction of Miko Livelo, the buddy comedy film Tol stars Arjo Atayde, Ketchup Eusebio, and Joross Gamboa. It follows Lando (Atayde), Arthur (Eusebio), and Dimitri (Gamboa) whose solid friendship would be out to the test when they meet Elena (Jessy Mendiola). Crushing on the same girl will eventually tear their group apart.

 6. Sakaling Maging Tayo (January 16)

Sakaling Maging Tayo is a comedy romance film directed by Jaime Habac Jr, starring Elisse Joson and McCoy De Leon. The film follows Pol (De Leon) and Laya (Joson), college freshmen who meet on the last day of school. Hoping to make the night something to remember, the pair engage in a series of dares, also unraveling certain truths.
