Filipino Singers Who Made Their Mark On International Singing Competitions

Before the year ends, it’s time to acknowledge the Filipino voices that sang their hearts out on stage. On international singing competitions like “The X Factor UK,” and “The Voice,” Pinoy pride has consistently kept its spot on stage. Here are a few names of those talented individuals who have the distinct blood of a Filipino running through them:

Pinoys Who Made It To The International Arena

1. Elysa Villareal. This 18-year old girl is not new to “The X Factor UK.” She’s tried auditioning in “The Voice Australia”, and “The X Factor.” She even competed in ABS-CBN’s popular noontime show, “Tawag ng Tanghalan.” Summoning up all her confidence she earned from previous competitions, she thought about giving “The X Factor UK” a shot. And she got it! Impressing the judges with her energy and confidence, her spot was secured.

2. Alisah Bonaobra. At 21 years old, Alisah has gotten judge Sharon Osbourne smitten with her. Especially on her latest performance in “The X Factor UK.” She was faced with the Six Chair Challenge– and after a raw, singing challenge for the fight of her life against Scarlett Lee and Raielle for that spot, triumph came to her. She sang Jessie J’s “Bang Bang” and boasted her impressive rapping skills. There were no questions needed, she had showed off her greatest– expressing her innermost passions for the singing career. And Sharon didn’t hesitate to change her decision.

3. Anatalia Villaranda. On her own audition for “The Voice” Season 12, Anatalia got four turns. She was able to make to make her way across the challenges– that is, until she was unable to get enough public votes to make it to the Top 12. Right now, She is taking steps into her singing career, performing in a few concerts and gigs of her own. Bagging that award may not have been her chosen destiny, but she’s taking time to stay in the music industry. Way to go, girl!

4. Gaby Borromeo. After growing up with Karaoke, it wouldn’t be too hard for Gabby to make it to “The Voice.” Her gentle yet raspy voice simply had to be heard and judges like Adam Levine loved it. Unfortunately, like Anatalia, she also lost her spot in the competition, but itsn’t stopping her from doing her music. She actually released a music video last July for her song “Southern California.”

5. Gaga Lord. On the “X Factor UK” auditions, Gaga Lord walked in with nothing on her mind but being herself out there. And the result? Nicole Scherzinger and Alesha Dixon acting like her back-up dancers on her performance. She sang Shirley Bassey’s “Diamonds are Forever” and judge SImon Cowell couldn’t help but feel like he was on a “James Bond” movie. She then earned a solid yes from all four judges.

6. JBK Band. If you want to listen to a Westlife-like trio, then note this name down. “JBK” stands for the names of the vocal artists, namely: Joshua Bulot, Bryan del Rosario and Kim Lawrenz Ordonio. After singing Sam Smith’s “Lay Me Down” in their mellow, acapella version, all judges didn’t think twice about giving them a yes.  Right now, the group is moving on to “The X Factor UK’s” Six Chairs Challenge. Give ‘em your support, guys!
