Fire In Numerous Areas In Lapu-Lapu City And Talisay City, Kills Two

Fire hit three areas in Lapu-Lapu City on Tuesday, May 2, taking two lives. One occurred in Barangay Canjulao and another in Barangay Pajo. The third fire happened at Negros Occidental in Barangay Lawaan 3, Talisay City.

The series of fires in Lapu-Lapu City and in Talisay City are of different causes and happened on different intervals. According to the Philippine Star, the first occurred in Barangay Pajo at around 9 a.m. The second at Barangay Canjulao early afternoon and the third at Talisay City in Barangay Lawaan around 9:30 p.m.

Fire hit two Barangays in Lapu-Lapu City, One in Talisay City

At around 9:00 a.m. in Barangay Pajo, fire engulfed a residential building. There were no casualties as confirmed by the report but the estimated damage reached P 100,000. The investigation showed that the fire was due to a leak of an LPG tank occupied by Glenn Abad on the upper part of the building. Firefighters were able to control the fire from reaching the lower part of the building.

Early afternoon on May 2, fire that was believed to have started at the second floor of eighty-six-year-old Aurea Jumao-as’ home took her and her granddaughter Jane’s life. Jane was only 14-years-old and was a special child. Edna, Aurea’s daughter and mother of Jane survived the fire.

Meanwhile, in Talisay City, six houses were affected by another fire in Sitio Crusher, Barangay Lawaan 3 around 7:00 p.m. According to the report, SFO3 Rudolfo Luage of the Talisay Fire Department said the area is found at the interior part of the barangay where houses were made of very light materials. As of 9:30 p.m., no casualties were reported.
