Artists’ Cafe In Ruins

Cafe By The Ruins is a favorite tourist destination in the city. Famous for good food and great ambiance, a group of artists and writers set up the cafe in 1988. The name comes from the actual ruins of a building that was destroyed when the city was liberated from the Japanese in 1945, according to an Inquirer report.

Located at 25 Shuntug Road, it became popular among tourists and locals alike. The restaurant’s structure was made out of wood and cogon, which according to the fire department quickly caught fire.
