Alright, here’s another recap. This time, we’re doing The Flash Season 3, Episode 6: Shade. Interestingly enough, the villain Shade isn’t the highlight of this episode however. Before going any further, I’ll start with the obligatory SPOILER ALERT.
The Flash, Season 3 Episode 6: Alchemy Finds Wally
The main conflict this time revolves around Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) as he begins having dreams of his life in Flashpoint. Nothing surprising there. We expected that. Barry (Grant Gustin), Joe (Jesse L. Martin), and Iris (Candace Patton) naturally feel worried for him, and try to convince him that what is happening isn’t actually a good thing. It doesn’t take very long for Wally’s dreams to escalate into nightmares. Pretty soon, Alchemy begins attacking Wally’s mind, telling the boy to find him.
Barry and Joe realize they have to stop Alchemy before he gets to Wally. Unfortunately, they have to deal with a more immediate threat: a shadow metahuman who calls himself Shade (Mike McLeod). They lock Wally up in the Pipeline, and focus on locating and defeating this new criminal.
HR’s Brilliant Plan
HR Wells (Tom Cavanagh) looks like he’s intent on proving his worth to the team in his own way. He hatches a plan to reopen STAR Labs as a museum. The purpose: to draw people off the idea that STAR Labs works with The Flash. In order to conceal his identity as a recognized mass murderer on Earth One, he builds a light refracting device of his partner’s design. Unfortunately, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) decides to confiscate the device until HR returns a pair of power dampening handcuffs that Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) stole unbeknownst to them.
Vibe vs Killer Frost
Caitlin later confesses to Cisco about her powers. He vibes Caitlin at her request, and he gets a vision of the two of them fighting against each other. He hesistates to tell her the truth, but Caitlin eventually realizes something is up. It takes a while, but Cisco manages to get Caitlin to come clean to the entire team.
Savitar: The God Of Speed
This is honestly very confusing, and I may have some details off. Joe and Barry finally hatch a plan to capture Alchemy. Wally uses himself as bait, and CCPD forces converge on Alchemy and his cultists. Flash is initially bested by Alchemy, but Joe manages to disarm the villain. Alchemy then chides them before his cloak falls to the ground.
A mild earthquake ensues, and Barry notices a streak of light moving around the room. Joe and Wally are unable to see it. All of a sudden the CCPD officers are lifted into the air and slaughtered by the unseen force. Barry realizes it’s moving too fast for the others to see, and he proceeds to give chase. Meanwhile, Alchemy’s voice calls once more to Wally, and he picks up Alchemy’s stone. He immediately becomes encased in an organic pillar, presumably to re-emerge from a new husk.
Barry gets rammed against a support column by the now visible speedster: a large, metallic form that calls itself Savitar: the God of Speed. And just like that, the episode ends.
Thoughts On The Flash Season 3 Episode 6
This was another slow episode to me. The only real interesting bit was Savitar himself. I mean to be honest, there was so little to write about here. Even Shade had literally one line in the entire script. But I digress. Did you enjoy the episode? Be sure to let us know.
