France Got Talent 2016: Katchry Jewel Golbin Wins 3rd Place

Katchry Jewel Golbin grabbed third place on France Got Talent 2016 among twelve other finalists. Katchry a.k.a Alienette Coldfire first moved the judges during her audition on November 1 when she sang “I Dreamed a Dream.” She then made it to the finals and performed “Le Moulins de mon Coeur” (The Windmills of your Mind).

After winning third place on France Got Talent 2016, Alienette Coldfire expressed on Facebook how thankful she was and how she felt like a winner even during her first performance during the auditions. Katchry sang “Quand on n’a que l’amour” (When Love is All You have) by Jacques Brel’s during the grand finals which aired early Wednesday morning in the Philippines.

Alienette Coldfire said, “Third place! That’s more than enough for a mere Francophile who dreamed of nothing but a short vacation in France. Making it to a French talent show’s Grand finale is beyond my wildest dreams.” She then thanked God, her family and supporters in France and in the Philipines and France Got Talent TV show. Alienette said, “…and to “la France a un incroyable talent” for letting me show my talent and for giving me a good reason to believe that I deserve my place not only in the show but also in the entertainment industry.”

Katchry’s family also shared Katchry’s journey. Her father, Edgardo and mother Estrella Golbin shares how Katchry loved singing ever since she was two years old. She learned french in College and practiced speaking the language through friends using a software. She was inspired to learn French by her idol, french singer Edith Piaf, who sang “La vie en Rose.”

Her mother Estrella said, “We are not rich and when she was telling us what she hoped to achieve, like joining and winning the competition in France, I was tempted to kid her to wake up from dreaming. But she did it.”

Katchry was born premature and blind. She is the eldest of three siblings and graduated English at the Central Philippine University in Iloilo City. Katchry first became an online sensation two years ago and was discovered through a video she posted of her singing “La Voie En Rose” on YouTube.
