For 9 years, Game of Thrones had its fandom popularly known as Thronies, at the edge of their seats. For nine years, we’ve watched boys become men, girls become women, stewards become knights, peasants become warriors and lords. We’ve watched Kings and Queens fall, Kingdoms ruined and new lands conquered and we’ve loved every bit of it.

But the last and final season of Game of Thrones left for a better lack of words, a bad taste in the mouth. And Twitter is not happy, not one bit. The #GOTFinale for some ended unsatisfactorily with unexplained plot holes and senseless resolutions for characters we’ve come to adore, both heroes and villains.

Daenerys Targaryen

Let’s be honest here, it wasn’t meant to end like this for Dany. The Breaker of Chains, Mother of Dragons, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt met her untimely death in the #GOTFinale. To say that the character wasn’t done justice is an understatement. After all the character development we watched from Seasons 1 through 7, the writers basically exposed her arc as fraudulent. All her growth from the timid sister of a mad brother to the Breaker of Chains and Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea was undone in the space of just 5 episodes. This wasn’t how it was meant to end, she was meant to sit on #theironthrone and liberate the people of Westeros, instead, the show’s writers decided to ignore her character arc and instead make her mad, perhaps for some shock value. She deserved better, and twitter agrees.

And where did Drogon take her body?

Tyrion Lannister

He’s meant to be the smartest man in Westeros yet somehow he contrives to make the dumbest decisions and mistakes. He even causes his best friend to get burned alive at the end of episode 5. Whatever happened to the Tyrion who slapped the insane Joffrey, stopped him from humiliating Sansa Stark and led the charge to defend King’s Landing? Gone apparently.

Jon Snow, Bran and Sansa

We were promised a prince, he was meant to be the prince yet he’s a wildling now? We waited for 7 seasons for Jon Snow to be unveiled as the true heir to the Iron Throne yet we got him sent to the meaningless wall that serves no purpose? Yep, wrap your head around that.

Bran is meant to be the three-eyed raven yes? The purpose of the three-eyed raven was never clearly explained but from what we gather, he’s meant to prevent the Long Night? Yet he sits and does literally nothing. This is someone who’s able to see the past, present and future, yet does absolutely nothing. Doesn’t help with strategy nor give words of wisdom, he just sits there looking smug and yet he’s supposed to be the King of the Six Kingdoms?

Sansa, oh dear Sansa, where do we even begin? She’s been through a lot, that we do understand, but to reduce her to jealousy or whatever her deal is doesn’t quite add up. Dany didn’t have to fight for the North, she didn’t have to protect the living, but she did. And what does Sansa do to thank her for it? Connive behind her back. Plot the inevitable seeds that lead to Dany’s downfall. Sansa, who swore not to tell anyone of Jon’s true lineage, broke her promise and told Tyrion, who in turn told Varys (master of whispers). Such a mess to a character we hated at first due to her cowardice then grew to love as time went by.

But don’t take my word for it, here’s what the Twitterverse has to say…

And to be very honest yeah?
