Sojin, Girl's Day Sojin

After initially denying dating rumors, Girl’s Day’s Sojin and Eddy Kim have confirmed their romantic relationship on June 28. According to a report, the Girl’s Day leader and singer/songwriter met in August 2016 while filming for the variety show “I’m a Movie Director Too: Youth Movie.” They remained friends and their relationship evolved into dating just two months ago. However, the news comes as a shock to some fans. Only three hours before the confirmation, Sojin’s agency DreamT Entertainment had denied the rumors.

Sojin and Eddy Kim Admit Relationship Just Hours After Denying It

According to Soompi, dating rumors emerged when witnesses claimed to have seen the pair hanging out near Sojin’s apartment. The accounts also alleged that the pair drove around in her car. When the rumors first emerged, DreamT Entertainment released a statement on June 28 denying the claims. The statement, translated by AllKPop, stated that Sojin was “simply close friends with Eddy Kim.” Eddy Kim’s agency Mystic Entertainment also denied the rumors. If it had just been left at that, fans might have been pacified and moved on. But then, three hours later, Dream T retracted their words.

DreamT released a new official statement, which revealed that Sojin and Eddy Kim had just begun their relationship. The agency explained that they had first denied the report, “thinking of the other side.” In other words, to protect the privacy of Sojin, who needed time to talk to Eddy Kim on their next step. This caution is understandable, considering how vocal the Korean public can be about the relationship statuses of Kpop stars. After speaking to one another, Sojin and Eddy Kim decided to go public with their relationship anyway. DreamT ended the statement by asking fans to support the relationship and “watch over them warmly.”

Sojin later released her own statement also asking for the continued support and love of people.
