Gong Yoo Speech On Winning ‘Best Drama Actor’

On the recently held 53rd Baeksang Art Awards, Gong Yoo won the ‘Best Drama Actor’ award for his performance in “Goblin.”

In his acceptance speech, he started off by mentioning about his ‘godly’ role. According to Koreaboo, Gong Yoo started off by jokingly saying, “Up until a few months ago, I was a lonely but great Goblin and now I’ve returned to being a very vulnerable person.”  The actor then proceeded by thanking Goblin’s scriptwriter, Kim Eun Sook, who persistently offered Gong Yoo lead roles for the past 5 years, despite the constant rejections.

Following this, Gong Yoo left his mother a sincere apology. The actor tearfully asked for forgiveness from his mother for not frequently visiting her because of his hectic schedule.

He was quoted by Soompi saying, “My mother sometimes gets disappointed and tells me that it feels like her son has become someone else’s son. It’s all because I haven’t been good to her.”

He then expressed his heartfelt thanks for the award.

A previous article of Pilipinas Popcorn sited Park Bo Gum (Love in the Moonlight), Jo Jung Seok (Jealousy Incarnate), Namgoong Min (Chief Kim), and Han Seok Kyu (Romantic Doctor Kim) as the other nominees for the award.
