Goblin, Gong Yoo

Gong Yoo of the hit Korean TV series, “Goblin,” talks about his future plans and a possible tandem with Song Hye Kyo. Meanwhile, Filipina actress, model, host, and Gong Yoo fan Ann Curtis flies to Hong Kong to get a glimpse of the Korean heartthrob with Kim Atienza.

Gong Yoo’s fame didn’t just go down with his successful portrayal in the 2016 Korean blockbuster hit, “Train to Busan,” and the recently concluded smash-hit TV drama, “Goblin.” His lead role as Kim Shin in the Korean TV series, “Goblin,” made everyone longing for their own guardian and protector. His versatility as an actor manifested in his characterization as an unbeatable warrior- a ferocious beast during battles, yet warm, protective and a little foolish in his core. So what should we anticipate from Gong Yoo’s future projects?

Gong Yoo has been travelling around Asia lately for fan meetings. On May 6 the actor held a fan meeting in Hong Kong wherein he discussed his future plans.

Gong Yoo: Next Work Might Be A Movie

Gong Yoo was quoted by Soompi saying, “I do not plan on taking a long break. Filming a drama, though, was very tiring. After working on a drama, I start to long for a movie set. I have not decided anything yet, but I think it’s likely my next work might be a movie. I won’t take too long and will choose a good project quickly.”

On a press conference before the fan meeting, Gong Yoo talked about how watched Hong Kong actors Chow Yun Fat and Andy Lau’s movies, as he was growing up. After sharing this with his fans, All Kpop reports Gong Yoo hinted that he would be willing to take an undercover role if ever he’s given an opportunity. All Kpop quoted him, “I think that the ‘Infernal Affairs’ series is very entertaining and are a great set of movies. I think it’d be fun to try an undercover role. Does it suit me?”

According to the same report, the Hallyu star mentioned another Hong Kong actor, Tony Leung Chiu Wai. Gong Yoo mentioned how much he respects Chiu Wai so much and would like to try out the roles he’s done.

The 37-year-old actor was then asked if he would be willing to take a role like that of Chiu Wai’s role in “Lust, Caution.” He was quoted saying, “I’ve received this same question in Korea before, where they asked me if I wanted to try a film like ‘Lust, Caution’. I think that if a production’s overall message or mood is good, something like revealing scenes will not hinder it.

Possible Gong Yoo and Song Hye Kyo Tandem

“Descendants of the Sun” leading lady Song Hye Kyo was also in Hong Kong recently for a fashion event. During the interview, the actress was asked if she would be willing to work alongside Gong Yoo, if ever given the opportunity.
According to Hello Kpop, Song told the press that she has not met Gong Yoo before, and does not know him personally. However, the actress added that if she’s given the opportunity to do a project with the “Goblin” star, then she would like to try working with him.
