In the post, users are urged to copy and re-post the message to let Facebook know that a user does not allow the use of his/her photos or information for public use. Were you one of thousands who believed and re-posted?

Facebook ‘Privacy note’ Hoax, An Old Story

Different versions of this ‘privacy notice’ were in the loop since 2012. During that time, the viral post gave out ‘New Facebook Guidelines,’ and as a response, users must repost the post with these new guidelines and must state that the user disallows Facebook to do so. In 2014, there was a viral Facebook Copyright notice, also a hoax, urging people to copy paste the same post if user would not want any information given to the public. In fact, the ‘privacy post’ that flooded news feeds recently was the exact same privacy note hoax in January 2015.

It’s too old! There is no point whatsoever in sharing, re-posting or even paying attention to this old story.

In response, Facebook made a public announcement to make thing clear. The post assures users all over the world that they are in control of their own profile. It reminds everyone that users can easily change privacy settings to decide which photos or status’ become public and private.
