Since the original movie premiered in 2006, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel and Monique Coleman have started the trend of not sticking to the ‘status quo’ and being cool no matter what. ‘High School Musical 4’ is indeed a go. Disney Channel President Gary Marsh tells ENews, “High School Musical is part of Disney Channel’s DNA, It embodies all that we stand for. As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we’re excited to announce ‘the start of something new’ as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the ‘High School Musical’ franchise.” So what are we to expect from the new High School Musical installment? Will the original cast still be ‘all in this together?’ Here’s what we know so far. 1.Zac Efron (Troy Bolton) and Vanessa Hudgens (Gabriella Montez) get married? With the upcoming High School Musical Franchise, fans are wondering if Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez will be back. Rumors have been circulating that the High School Musical sweethearts will get married and would even be parents to a character named “Peyton.” All this is mere speculation as neither Disney, Zac Efron or Vanessa Hudges confirmed any reports. The Hollywood Reporter says the new franchise will center on a new group of students at East High as well as rivals West High Knights. But who knows? It would be impossible to have a High School Musical franchise without even a glimpse of Troy and Gabriella, right? But what does Vanessa say about the new High School Musical? In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in May, Vanessa Hudgens spoke about how she felt with the new cast of characters. TeenVogue hinted a bit about at least cameo appearances from the duo. A confirmation from ENews though, Sharpey and Ryan’s cousin will definitely be there, and will be Zac Efron’s 2.0 3.New characters for High School musical 4 revealed, Audtions with Corbin Bleu Casting is still underway but we already know who the main characters are in the much awaited movie. ENews reveals five. Erin, a dedicated soccer player and the only girl on the boys’ team who falls for the bad boy on the other side of the track. Derek, Erin’s love interest, tough on the outside but mushy in the inside. He’s also a dancer and teaches dance to little girls in a studio. Campbell, Sharpey and Ryan’s cousin. This Troy 2.0 is a super hot soccer captain and theater star who decides to date Erin. Nathalie, a cheerleader and Erin’s BFF (couldn’t have a High School Musical without a BFF). Finally Tamara, East High’s former queen bee, who basically wants to reclaim all attention to herself. To cast the new characters, Corbin Bleu went hands-on with potential teens who will take over the High School Musical Franchise. So fans can rest assured that the story line will be just as great since Peter wrote the original High School Musical. As to director/choreographer ENews reports that Teen Beach Movie’s Jeffrey Hornaday will join the team for the new franchise.
