Belly fat is visceral fat that goes deeper down and around your abdominal organs. It is metabolically active tissue that releases a substance into the rest of your body that, in excess, can increase your risk of disease.

Back in the 1940’s, according to the French physician, Jean Vague observed that most of his patients that are moderately overweight patients showed signs of abnormalities that exposes them to heart disease or diabetes. Most of Vague’s patients were men who carry their fat around their stomach.

Since then, various studies have shown that belly fat can be a threat, not only a byproduct of having a sedentary lifestyle but also through heredity.

Start being a healthier version of yourself and get rid of that belly fat. Here’s how:

Diet is very important. Don’t be too restrictive or to frequent so you won’t be constantly feeling hungry. Be consistent and have discipline. A lot of people usually break from the plan and go back to their old habits.

If you want your belly smaller, you should consider a lot of protein. This makes you feel full and helps in the building of muscle. According to a study by the International Journal of Obesity,  people who took the high-protein diet lost more weight compared to those who are on a low-protein diet.
