This means a great need to save some money. Saving is a matter of perspective. No matter how young you are, if you have the motivation and the dedication to do it, it is possible. Starting early is the key to making this work. So start now. Here is a list of things to do to save money in college. How to save money in college 1. Taking the long way home One of the troubles of being a college student is being tired. Tired of the tower of school papers. Tired of the endless people who drain the already minimal energy out of you. You get so tired that you want nothing more than to take a quick cab ride home and flop on your bed. Don’t. Riding cabs would bite you in the butt in the long run. It will stress you out when you realize most of the money you had was spent on expensive cab rides. So, take a jeep, walk the short way home. A bit of a longer time but it is worth losing a few paper bills. 2. Eating right This doesn’t always have to mean a well-balanced and healthy diet. When it comes to saving money, this means avoiding places with really good food but really bad prices. Look for places with good food with a reasonable price, like a nearby karinderya, or fast food (but not always.) Bringing your own food is also a great way to lessen spending outside. You’ll save money, plus you’re sure it’s safe to eat. When temptations are getting too strong, say this mantra, “Food at home is free.” 3. Stay away from online shops One of people’s weakness in this day and age is online shopping. You get to buy things without your feet touching the ground. Some of the prices are ridiculously lower than what you see in malls and stalls. And nothing compares to the feeling when the delivery man knocks on your door and hands your package to you. But because of these reasons, people can get carried away. You might just fall to the ground when you check your bank account or wallet and find nil. When you feel the Shopping Force aggressively pulling you, stop and think, “I can get this another time.” 4. Have a strict list Having a list is not always enough. More than enough times, you deviate from your list and buy more things impulsively. Do your best to put what you need first and what you want next. But most importantly, strictly follow the list. You might regret buying three lipsticks but forgetting the required green notebook. 5. The 3 R’s The oldest and safest way to save money is to reduce, reuse and recycle. By doing so, you avoid spending cash on things you might have laid in your house. You get the most out of what you bought before. 6. Roam Around or Borrow When you need something, you tend to get the first one you see. Without looking at the countless shops that sell the same thing with a cheaper tag, you buy it. Take time to check other places and compare the prices. If immediacy is your concern, it’s doesn’t take much time to ask people you know. When all else fails, borrow. I’m sure there are people willing to lend you a hand. Facebook Comments
