Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart On Logan And Leaving

Logan

Logan has finally arrived in the Philippines! On its premiere on Mar. 1, eager fans have witnessed what could be the most intimate moments of the distant and disconnected Wolverine. In this movie starring Marvel character Wolverine, unconventional is redefined- a fitting finale for the series and for the men who delivered it outstandingly: Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart.

Hugh Jackman opens up about Logan, Deadpool, speaks about visit to PH

It looks like the movie isn’t the only thing coming here anytime soon because Logan is coming in the flesh! In an exclusive interview with Lyn-Ching Pascual on GMA, actor Hugh Jackman says that he is looking forward to coming to the Philippines. In his interview, he greets the Filipinos in the local dialect.

“Kamusta everyone in the Philippines.Thank you for your support of this character over the years. I really hope you like this film that I’m really proud of and I cannot wait to come there, so I hope to see you soon.” he says.

Hugh notes that the inspiration for Logan came from Mark Millar’s fondness of the Academy Award-winning film Unforgiven. Together they exchanged insights about Logan’s progression in the story and ultimately created a personality that is now the aged Wolverine. Hugh mentions a different approach on the audience’s expectation of character genre and role subversion.

“Logan” is Wolverine’s human name. Hugh says that “It makes you see not just a superhero but just a man- and he’s a good man at heart.” He describes his character as someone who “cannot stand injustice and will not stand by while someone gets bullied or railroaded.”

After this third and last stand-alone Wolverine installment, Hugh Jackman is headed for a much-needed break as an X-Men mutant. Hugh also squashed rumors about any involvement in the upcoming Deadpool franchise.

Patrick Stewart thoughts on saying goodbye

Following Hugh Jackman’s announcement to retire, Patrick Stewart soon followed suit. In an interview also with Lyn-Ching Pascual on GMA, Patrick says that “the profession of acting means saying goodbye continually to groups of people that you’ve been very close to, very intimate to. Also to the character you’ve been playing.”

A very graceful manner of explaining his abrupt albeit gentle resignation as Mutant Leader and Professor Charles Xavier. As heartbreaking as this is for fans who have identified with Patrick and his fitting role, he feels that it’s about time to bid farewell.

In the seventeen years of X-Men, Patrick praises Hugh for his progress as Wolverine and as an actor. He mentions that when Hugh was hired for the role of Wolverine, it was his ‘first real international opportunity.’ From this, he has grown and improved. Truly he has, especially in this final act.

When prodded about his lingering friendship with Lord of the Rings actor Sir Ian McKellan, he says that Sir Ian sees him as akin to him. “Ian used the term that neither of us has used before. But he said speaking of me, I have a feeling that at last, I have a brother.”

Logan will serve as the X-Men series’ cherry on top. Highly acclaimed for its intensive style of twisting typecast, this movie offers kick-ass action against powerful forces. Not just that, it also gives the audience food for thought.
