On Saturday morning, News Anchor Supreet Kaur of IBC24 was doing her run-in-the-mill job reporting on a breakout news about a fatal car accident. As details about the incident poured in, the familiarity of the location and images made her think of her husband. Right after she delivered the news report, she found out that her husband was one of the victims who died in that same news report she delivered. Supreet received commendation for her professionalism amidst the ironic circumstance.

Supreet Kaur’s Professionalism Is Remarkable

As a senior anchor, Supreet did everything by the book. Her conduct in that news report was unblemished as a journalist despite being the wife of one of the victims she gave a report about. Kaur and her husband Harsad Kawade were married for only 18 months when the accident happened.

IBC24’s editor in chief Ravi Kant Mittal told CNN said, “She was doing her job, and she kept on doing it with composure and without showing her emotions on air.” In a Twitter post by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, Supreet was once again commended saying, “Salute Supreet’s strength in dealing with her husband’s demise with extraordinary bravery and professionalism. May departed soul rest in peace.” State Congress president Bhupesh Baghel also praised Kaur’s courage. A colleage of hers said, “We are standing with her in this difficult situation. She has set an example for journalism and professionalism.”

Chhattisgarh Police Arrested Driver Who Caused the Accident

On Sunday, the Chhattisgarh Police arrested the alleged driver who rammed his truck into an SUV. This killed three people including the husband of Supreet. Two other people incurred injuries.  He was one of the three people who died in the Renault Duster (SUV). The accident happened in the Pithaura area of Mahasamund district. The last rites of Kaur’s husband, Harsad  Kawade, will be done on Monday.
