If you’ve spent enough time viewing your friends’ Instagram Stories, you’re bound to see at least one screenshot of a song currently playing on Spotify. Or maybe you’re that friend. Lucky for you, Instagram updates allows you to share your #NowPlaying from Spotify on your stories.

As of April 2018, Instagram ranked 6th in Statista’s most popular social networks worldwide, by the number of active users in millions with 8.13 million. Spotify is one of the top 10 most popular music streaming apps worldwide. In another statistic by Statisa, Spotify has over 70 million paying subscribers as of January 2018.

5 things we know about the updates

With the recent update, people are sure going to need help in navigating the hidden gems the update has to offer. So here are 5 things we know so far about the joining of two of the most used apps in the world.

1. How to share with Spotify

You can easily share one of the best songs you’ve ever heard just by going to the “Share” menu and choosing Instagram Stories. Editing before sharing isn’t even a problem. Add a little bit of pizzazz with custom cover art stickers for songs, albums, playlists, and or artists before posting it as a Story or sending it as a direct message.

2. Look and listen

Sharing what you have on your playlist doesn’t stop with seeing what’s playing. Now, viewers can listen to the song while your Story plays.

3. Partnering with GoPro

Spotify isn’t the only app Instagram is partnering with. Their partnership with GoPro made sharing what you’re up to much easier.

The process isn’t that different from Spotify’s sharing. Just press the “Share” button and whatever you’re will just pop up on Instagram’s Story camera. You can then edit before sharing or sending it as a direct message.

4. Free space

Because you won’t be saving screenshots, your phone will have bigger space for other things like cute pictures of your dog or more games.

5. Augmented camera effects

Last year, Facebook brought us augmented reality camera effects. Today, Instagram tweaked it a bit with user-designed filters based on the accounts they follow. They can also get what they haven’t seen on their own account and maybe on a friend’s story. All they have to do is see who made it and follow the account.
