Carlos Celdran

Carlos Celdran, popularly known for his Intramuros tours, apparently lost his iPhone 7 on Wednesday, Oct 18. It was recently returned by two siblings Alpha and Randolph Jumao-as from Ermita. Carlos posted a photo of the siblings on Instagram thanking them for their good deed. Celdran returned the good deed with asking help from anyone who could assist their mom who needs medical attention.

Carlos Celdran is a tour guide and performance artist in Manila. He is well known for putting humor into his Intramuros tours making the trip down to memory lane a fun and exciting one. A wiki profile says he grew up in Makati and began as a cartoonist for a newspaper at the age of 14. He studied performance art at the Rhode Island School of Design and then moved to New York City. It was in the Big Apple where he got to witness the effect of HIV on the queer community. This led him to his reproductive health activism in the Philippines. In 2010, Carlos got caught up in a controversy. He staged a protest inside the Manila Metropolitan Cathedral to protest the Catholic Church’s interference in passing the Reproductive Health Bill.

Carlos Celdran’s plea for two honest siblings on Instagram

On Instagram, Carlos posted a photo of his “two honest Manileño siblings” who recently returned his lost iPhone 7. In his post, he said that Alpha and Randolph Jumao-as from Ermita called Carlos and just simply gave the phone back.

It turns out Carlos lost his phone while he was in the jeepney from Dimasalang to Intramuros. Carlos remembered Randolph sat beside him that time and recalled that he was very friendly. Randolph found Carlos’ phone on the floor of the jeepney.

The siblings didn’t ask anything in return but Carlos was insistent in returning the good deed. Carlos went on to share what he found out about Alpha and Randolph. He then came to know that they owned a tricycle sari sari store in Roxas Boulevard. He also found out that their mom has eye problems and was in need of a doctor. Both Alpha and Randolph wish their mom could get medical attention soon and they hope that they would be able to send her back to Cebu. Carlos then used social media as an opportunity to give back to these honest siblings and asked help for their mom.

Reading the comments on Carlos Celdran’s post, some have already been pledging certain amounts of money for Alpha and Randolph’s mom. A good deed returned by another good deed and it seems more will follow.

My phone has been found! Lost my iphone 7 yesterday and two honest wonderful Manileño siblings Alpha and Randolph Jumao-as from Ermita called and gave it back. I remember he sat beside me and he was very friendly. He found my phone on the floor of the jeepney I took from Dimasalang to Intramuros. They asked for nothing but I insisted on giving a reward of course. In these difficult times, integrity should be given due. Mabuhay ang Filipino! After meeting them, I now know they own a tricycle sarisari store stationed next to Office Warehouse on Roxas Boulevard. I also learned their mom has eye problems and needs to see a doctor, Manila is rough on her and they want to send her back to Cebu. I’m not as liquid this year as I was in the past though, can anyone out there help me find fare to send their mom back to Cebu and get her eyes checked?
