iPhone 8 Latest Leaks Point To Higher Price Tag

The latest round of leaks of the next generation of iPhones confirms why Apple may be asking for a higher than usual price tag. Known tipsters shared information that shows new features such as wireless charging and a major redesign.

According to a round-up by Forbes, three such leaks are consistent with each other, boosting the possibility that these may be plausible.

iPhone 8: Major Redesign In The Works?

Two of the latest leaks are detailed schematics of the latest iteration of the smartphone. One leak came from OnLeaks, a reliable tipster and is boosted by newcomer Benjamin Geskin.

It shows a major redesign: a vertical dual camera set up, instead of a horizontal one and the absence of a physical home button. Without the home button, Touch ID is said to be integrated into the main display. The front camera is also said to be on the display.

Another schematic discovered on Weibo confirms this. Notably, both leaks also claim that wireless charging will finally come to the iPhone.

Wireless Charging Confirmed

The Forbes report mentioned a third source, an official press release from wireless charging company Powermat. Their CEO, Elad Dubzinski said that: “wireless charging will become a standard feature in the next iPhone, [so] we are finally at the threshold of mainstream adoption.

According to an Australian Financial Review report, Apple also patented a system of charging that makes use of radio frequencies like Wi-Fi. Although the patent looks like the technology is still being developed, the report says that this confirms Apple’s moves to change the way they charge their devices.

iPhone 8 Will Come With A High Price Tag

In another Forbes report, all these new and exclusive features may well be the reason why Apple will price it over S1,000 USD per device. This year is also a big year for the company as the iPhone is marking its 10th year.

Given this, the company is expected to release three premium models this year: the iPhone 7S, the iPhone 7S Plus, and finally, the iPhone 8.
