Isabelle Daza, netizens react, think before you click, social media

Model and TV host Isabelle Daza was at the receiving end of the anger of some netizens, after her controversial Instagram post. The post in question, which Daza has already deleted from her account, showed Daza trying on what looked like an expensive hat. She labeled the post: “Buy this hat for my Africa looks? Or feed children in Africa for the same price?”

She also added a question on what Angelina Jolie would do in this situation. According to an Inquirer report, Daza posted her Instagram story on Saturday. She has deleted it from her account, but netizens were able to get a screenshot of the post. She also issued an apology on Monday afternoon.

Isabelle Daza Apologizes

Daza who calls herself a social entrepreneur and has built herself up as social media savvy, has issued an apology through social media. According to a PEP.ph report, she first sent a private message to one of the netizens who called her out. She said: “Sorry if I offended you it actually didn’t translate the way it did in my head. But I realized that after and I deleted it.”

Following this, she also posted another IG story wherein she admitted being insensitive and offensive. She added: “I take full responsibility for my actions. It was a lapse of judgement and I appreciate the feedback from you guys. Moving forward I will be more mindful of what I post. Again, I am sorry.”

Netizens React To Daza’s IG Post

Prior to her issuing an apology, netizens took to social media to call her out. Twitter user CJ Masigan quoted Daza’s own mission statement, which refers primarily to Daza’s online presence. The mission statement says: “Isabelle Daza aims to use wit and humor through raw and real candor to provoke the best version of oneself.”

Some netizens even likened her post to the Pepsi ad where Kendall Jenner is embroiled. Others called her a spoiled, privileged rich kid.

Daza has been known to go around campuses and give talks about online marketing and entrepreneurship. She also has a web series called Haters Gonna Hate which show celebrity guests read and react to online comments about them. She guested former Senator Bong Bong Marcos, who happens to be her godfather, which also earned the ire of some netizens.
