Reggae boss Chino Dela Cruz from Visayas ends the brief ‘Tanghalan’ reign of Cassiana Illescas on the Sept. 28 episode of It’s Showtime. Meanwhile, #KathNielOnItsShowtime — a Twitter hashtag dedicated to the guesting of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla — pulled in nearly 20 thousand posts on Twitter. The teen idols have just returned to the Philippines from a magazine pictorial in Iceland.
Chino Dela Cruz vs Cassiana Illescas: 2 Reasons He Snagged The Title
Balut vendor Cassiana is a stunning singer, but the much younger Chino brought something to It’s Showtime that convinced the judges he deserved to win. Here are two reasons for his victory: audience engagement and song choice.
The audience, as well as the judges, connected well to Chino’s song choices. He took on Matisyahu’s “One Day” to compete in the daily round, and for the battle with Cassiana, Chino leveled up with Bob Marley’s “No Woman, No Cry.” The rise of excitement from the daily round to the sing-off was evident among the audience. They were with him through both numbers. When Cassiana took on Shirley Bassey’s “Let Me Live My Life,” there was a palpable drop in energy. One could only assume that judges may have given Chino better scores over his strong audience impact.
Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla are back from Iceland, Up Next: Nescafe’s International Coffee Day
Meanwhile, KathNiel fans were happy to see their favorite ship back home. Kathryn and Daniel flew to Iceland over the weekend for a pictorial with Mega Magazine, Journal Online reports. It’s Showtime hosts Vhong Navarro and Vice Ganda were happy to welcome back the romantic teen duo in behalf of their fans, who nearly broke the internet with another successful Twitter party.
Kathryn is reportedly preparing for this years Star Magic ball. After the premiere of “Barcelona: A Love Untold,” slowing down does not seem possible for these teen idols. Both stars have a solid fan base and a list of projects that would keep them and their fans busy through the rest of the year.
