Jake Zyrus: ‘Yun yung story na totoo’
It’s no surprise for the drama anthology series to revolve around the life of prominent personalities. And on last week’s episode, they chose to recount the story of international singer Charice Pempengco– also known as Jake Zyrus.
The program then sparked quite an uproar from Jake’s mother, Raquel Pempengco who had comments on the how the show was presented. She claims that it was a story too far from the truth and vehemently disagreed on her portrayed role.
On the episode, actress Dina Bonnevie played the role of Jake’s mother. The story went on to narrate how Charice was strictly handled by her mother. In the story, it presented how Raquel disciplined her child in joining singing contests, even when it was hard for Charice to do so.
In an interview with PEP, the singer opened up about how it was her right to ‘speak up about (her) life’ and share the truth. She says, “Ang sa akin lang, I believe dun sa salitang ‘the truth will set you free,’ at yun lang ang ginawa ko.”
The award-winning artist goes on to say that she wasn’t intending to hurt anyone, especially her mother’s reputation. Instead, she speaks up about her purpose in revealing those hidden ‘truths.’
She says, “Ang intensiyon ko is para sa ibang tao na makita nila na, ‘Hindi pala ako nag-iisa, heto pala ang pinagdaanan ni Jake, so kaya ko ito.”
Finally, albeit the charges her mother is planning to file against her for her honest storytelling, Jake Zyrus remains calm and collected. She doesn’t even directly state a comment to her mother.
She just says: “It was simply stories in my life, my struggles, my experience, yung challenges na lagi kong sinasabi sa interviews. Iyon lang ang inilabas ko, yun yung story na totoo na sinabi ko. Bahala na ang mga tao, hindi ko na sila sasabihan pa or hindi ko na ipipilit kung ano ang gusto nilang paniwalaan.”
