Jake Zyrus Moves On From Raquel Pempengco Claims, Focuses On October Concert

Update on Jake Zyrus’ life? Well, he’s in turmoil. And it’s happening on what could be the worst time in his life. Because while he’s facing scathing remarks from his mother Raquel Pempengco, he’s also preparing for his biggest comeback coming in a few weeks.

Old Charice Pempengco sings for the first time as Jake Zyrus

In an interview with PEP, Jake Zyrus revealed a sweet farewell to his old self– Charice Pempengco. It seems as if the vocal artist is more than ready to let go of his identity. And instead, to move forward to the self he aspires to be.

He says, “I’d like to be recognized as Jake Zyrus, just Jake Zyrus. Kasi, yung Charice, happy ako sa lahat ng na-experience niya, lahat ng achievements niya.”

The vocal artist even sent his kudos to Charice and her success but admits that those plans were not for him as Jake Zyrus. Instead, he concludes that he wants everyone to know that he is who he is– and Jake is his identity. He even likened his situation to the Rascal Flatts song “I’m Moving On.”

Talking about his nearing gig this October, the 25-year-old singer-songwriter opened up about his excitement on the concert. He comments, “Determined ako to share my music to everyone,” sabi niya. Determined akong maramdaman nila yung music na gusto kong maiparating sa kanila.”

Jake Zyrus will be singing new songs and a few covers, including “Hiling” by Jay-R Siaboc on his concert this October 5 in the Music Museum.

Jake Zyrus has had enough of mother’s claims

After the controversial Aug. 26 episode of ABS-CBN’s drama anthology “Maalala Mo Kaya,” Jake Zyrus’ mother Raquel Pempengco immediately spoke up about it– in fact, she still hasn’t stopped talking about it.

Reports say that Raquel had every intention of suing her daughter and the MMK show for her supposed portrayal in the show. Which, admittedy, was not a very pretty one. To an ordinary audience, it would appear as if Jake had an extravagant, disapproving mother who had a tight hold on the artist’s career and money. To read more about it, click here.

When asked to comment about the issue, Charice chose to stick with the story and instead, admits to telling only a tale of inspiration, and nothing negative. Meanwhile, his mother grew infuriated with the show and went on to say she was going to charge them for libel.

“Ginawa ko yun kasi naisip ko na, you know what, alam ko kasi na there are other people out there, hindi lang LGBT people, but everyone, everybody na may ganitong sitwasyon,” Jake tells PEP.

Right now, fans are hoping for the mother and child’s reconciliation.
