James Reid is the “Best Southeast Asia Act” in the 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA).  This is Reid’s second time being nominated for the same category. Back in 2015, Reid was up for the same award but lost to Vietnamese talent Son Tung M-TP. His girlfriend, Nadine Lustre was also a fellow nominee with Reid during the 2015 MTV EMA awards. Reid is the second Filipino artist to win the category. Sarah Geronimo won the same category back in 2014.

Winners were selected by fans across the continent. His album “Palm Dreams” received favorable reviews from both fans and critics. MTV took notice and describes James as “not just an ordinary cutie,” on their website.  Other 2017 MTV EMA winners include Shawn Mendes for Best Artist, Eminem for Best Hip-Hop Artist and Camila Cabello for Best Pop Artist. MTV EMA awards are held every year in a different country. This year it took place took place in London’s SSE Arena Wembley.

Twitterverse on James Reid winning Best Southeast Asia Act 2017

After the announcement of his win, Reid expressed his gratitude for winning “Best Southeast Asia Act” on Twitter. Since releasing his self-titled debut album in 2012, Reid has established his own music label, Careless Music Manila and has since focused on his music.

For doing his country proud people took to Twitter heartfelt messages of congratulations. His JaDine fanbase is proud of Reid. Even fans of Palitchoke, who was nominated alongside Reid, have no bad blood against the singer instead they join others in congratulating his win.

Reid is also set to release a new music video for his song “The L1Fe,” directed by Petersen Vargas and Nadine Lustre.
