3 Times James Reid Became More Singer Than Actor

James Ried’s Hit Debut Album

Back in 2013 when James Reid was relatively known as the boy from PBB, he was already working on his album alongside other projects. His self-titled debut album featured a lot of catchy upbeat numbers. “Alam Niya Ba?” was one of the hit songs that came out of his first album. It’ a fun track that could brighten up any gloomy day. The catchy OPM love song immediately garnered him a fan base. His first album showed off his skillful songwriting chops and soulful voice.

For his debut album, he penned two tracks. He wrote “Game Changer” and “You Make My Body Move.” He later had more musical opportunities after “Diary ng Panget,” where he not only starred in but sang in the soundtrack. This was the first chapter in James journey as a hit recording artist.

James Reid’s Duets With Sarah Geronimo

Sarah Geronimo is the Queen of Pop in the Philippines, singing with her means you can keep up. And it looks like James can match the same energy and vocals Sarah projects when performing. The two have performed a couple of times. As a singer, James won’t rely heavily on auto-tune, he’d rather show his raw talent during live performances.

They performed together again on ASAP with an incredible version of Drake’s “Fake Love.” Both James and Sarah were electrifying on stage. They performed again on Sunday, Oct 9, with a fired up performance of Louis Tomlinson’s “Back to You.” He proves he can keep up with artists like Sarah and not fall behind the spotlight. James showcases how well he can perform live with other seasoned artists like Sarah.

James Reid New Album, Palm Dreams

“Palm Dreams” is a far cry from James’ earlier hits. His new album features more of R&B blended with electronic and hip-hop sensibilities. It also marks James’ first self-composed album. It is completely different from his previous hits and a far cry from the usual cheesy pop-hits from actors turned singers. His second album proves James can grow as an artist.

His first single “Cool Down” showcased James smooth vocals in this chill vibed song. You can put the song on replay as you drive down the road or chill on the beach. It feels like you are listening to a different side of James Reid.

When you listen to a few other songs on his new album you can clearly tell James had both R&B and EDM influences. Unlike other actors turned singers, he changes up his sound. It’s fresh, it’s new, and it’s different you see James the actor and James the singer as two separate people. His album “Palm Dreams” is streaming on Spotify if you want to listen to more of Jame’s new sound.
