“On The Job: The Series,” an original mini-series on HOOQ, recently revealed its cast members. Arjo Atayde and Bela Padilla of “The Probinsyano” series, join the cast that includes Christopher de Leon and Leo Martinez. Erik Matti directs the series, said to based on his 2013 movie by the same name.
On The Job Movie
The 2013 film “On The Job” starred by Piolo Pascual, Gerald Anderson and Joel Torre looked at the dark and gritty world of hitmen. It also showed how this world of crime interacted with politics.
Among the accolades the film received include being part of Cannes 2013 Directors’ Fortnight list. It also received the Jury Prize at the 17th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in Korea in 2013.
Reports say the mini-series presents a new storyline that still tackles crime and politics. It however puts into light the role of media in the mix.
Media, Politics and Crime
According to the official release, the series features the story of Sisoy, “a corrupt local media man under the payroll of a political clan,” represented by Pedring, and an investigative journalist, Pam. The crime element is Roman, described as a “principled hired gun.”
Set during Christmas time, the story revolves around the massacre of eight journalists in Sisoy’s home town, said to be the handiwork of Roman. Pam, being the “passionate” investigative journalist, sets out to find the truth. She encounters local politicians and other criminal characters in the course of her investigation.
“On The Job” Cast Members Revealed
In the cast reveal, the main characters and the actors playing them were named. Among them include Bela Padilla as Pam and theater actor Teroy Guzman as Sisoy. Nonoy Froilan will portray clan lord Pedring while Neil Ryan Sese will be Roman.
