In the unfortunate passing away of American actor and director Garry Marshall in 2016, he took with him the plans of a Princess Diaries comeback. This year, Julie Andrews reminds everyone that hope is not lost and the crowd can still expect the unlike Princess Mia (Anne Hathaway), her comical mishaps and the benevolent Queen Clarisse (Julie Andrews) on the big screen.
Julie tells BuzzFeed: “There’s talk about it. And [Anne Hathaway]’s very keen to do it. I would very willingly and happily do it.”
Princess Diaries 3 is Happening
In 2016, Garry Marshall, Julie Andrews, and Anne Hathaway discussed the possibility of pursuing a third installment of the Princess Diaries series. But because Anne was heavily pregnant, only plans were made then. There was even a skype meeting in Garry’s office- an implication of just how serious these three were in making this movie happen.
Months later, Julie and Anne are now planning to push through with the film. This time, in dedication to the late Princess Diaries director. “I think we might do it in honor of him. Annie had an idea that she wanted to pursue it, and I’m all for it” she continues to say.
Don’t expect it too soon, though. Because although production is a sure thing, it may not happen as quickly as you think. After all, movies aren’t the easiest to make- especially for something as grandeur as the Princess Diaries.
After sixteen years since Princess Diaries 2: The Royal Engagement, the fans can now look out for Princess-or should we say Queen Mia’s next hurdle as the very single yet strong and independent crowned leader of Genova.
