What’s Your Poison? The Joint Will Probably Have It

The Joint is definitely a good place to chill with your barkada or a group of friends. Its bar has quite an interesting and wide range of cocktails, concocted for you by their bartender. So whatever your choice of poison is, the Joint will likely have it for you.

The place prides itself for having one of the widest selections of imported beers in the city. According to their marketing people, they try their best to keep their selection well-stocked. For the beer connoisseur, it’s an impressive list, ranging from ales, lagers and pilsners. Among the best-selling beers included in their list are Heineken, Budweiser, Dos Equis, Tiger and Tsingtao. They also have rare pilsners, such as those made from wheat, also known as weissbier.

Aside from beer and liquor, they also offer cocktails such as the Sangria, which is a mix of fruit juice, with cubes of apples in the mix. The sweet drink has a kick while the apples add that interesting crunch and taste as well.

Bar Chow At Its Best

The food menu at the Joint is the same as that of its neighbor Sala. But since it is after a watering hole, most of the food that is usually in demand are those that go well with beer or cocktails.

Some of the standard bar chow are present, such as the Flower Crackling which is basically a better name for chicharong bulaklak. Another standard, crispy chicken skin was also served, but this time with a bit of a twist. Calling it Southern Chicken Skin, their version comes with a sweet corn mash dip which balances the richness of the deep-fried chicken skin.

The place also has its own version of sizzling dishes like the ever-present Pork Sisig, cooked the Kapampangan way. You should also try out their Balut, which is served with fried garlic and tofu cubes, on a sizzling plate with a sweet and tangy sauce to contrast the balut’s rich taste.

If you prefer the heavier kind of bar chow, try their sandwiches. The Sick Joint Sausage sandwich is a spicy Hungarian sausage with a healthy dose of cheddar cheese and a heap of caramelized onions on top. It’s sweet barbecue sauce together with the onions is a good complement to the spicy sausage.

Depending on your mood and how many you are, you can choose to stay near the action at the bar or any of the booths good for a group of 4 to 6 persons. So the next time you are in Baguio, come and see how this place lives up to its name.

Just Another Damn Good Sick Joint is on the ground floor, The Camp, Leonard Wood Road, Teacher’s Camp, Baguio City. It is open from 6:00 p.m. to 1:oo a.m.
