Prince William and Kate Middleton have been busy with their charity work. Through their visits to Stewards Academy in Essex and Place2Be, the charity advocating children’s mental health, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge never fail to show what it really means to be a royal.
Kate Middleton: “Never give up on your dreams”
As part of their work with Heads Together, Prince William and Kate listened to some students give their speeches. 15-year-old Hannah was one of the presenters and after speaking in front of the royals, she shared a moment with Kate. The Duchess told her to “never give up” on her dreams and to keep performing. Hannah said that having Kate visit them will help a lot of people when it comes to being able to speak up on how they feel. She also adds that what Princess Kate told her will stay with her for the rest of her life. Take a look at the Duchess of Cambridge and Hanna share a conversation here.
Princess Kate Erases Mental Health Stigma for Kids
The Duchess of Cambridge is playing a crucial role in her mission to help vulnerable children through her work. She is proactive in visiting schools for kids with mental health problems and one of them is the Anna Freud Centre – a clinical, educational and research institute specializing in psychological treatment of children.
Professor Peter Fonagy, CEO of Anna Freud Centre, tells People that in speaking out about child mental health, the Princess is doing one of the most important things she can do for their country. As she leads the way in a particularly stigmatized area, she couldn’t do better than bring attention to the needs of young people with mental health.
Princess Kate has been consistently showing her commitment to issues about the importance of children’s mental health and emotional well-being since she became a patron of Place2Be, the charity that provides counseling for children in schools. According to People, Dr. Fiona Pienaar, the director of clinical services in Place2Be, praises the Duchess for being very “knowledgeable” about mental health and for helping bring conversations about the issue even in the mainstream.
