KFC Searches For Pinoy Goblin Bride For Gong Yoo Doppelganger

Could these two be the latest incarnations of the Goblin and his bride? When a netizen spotted a Pinoy KFC worker and realized his resemblance to Korean star Gong Yoo, she just had to post about it on Facebook. The post quickly went viral. Not one to miss out on an opportunity, KFC Philippines ran away with the coincidence. Yesterday, the company launched a promo seeking the Pinoy look-a-like of the Goblin’s bride and it also went viral. The search is on for the Goblin’s bride – again!

Pinoy Gong-Yoo Doppelganger Goes Viral On Facebook

On June 20, Eriel Pangan Mendoza posted that she had found Kim Shin of “Goblin” – in a KFC in Manila. Mendoza wrote that she no longer needed to go to Korea to see Gong Yoo because she had already seen him in the Philippines. Netizens soon started commenting and sharing the photo, buzzing about the Pinoy lookalike, Right now, the post has over 38,000 likes and 24,000 shares. And it’s only been three days!

Cosmo.ph managed to identify the lookalike as 23-year-old KFC worker Michael Cordova. Apparently, Cordova had been working at KFC for seven months and only found out about his viral status when his fellow workers told him. The branch manager, Mcneil Yamio, said they weren’t surprised by the reactions of netizens. They had already been calling him “Goblin” before he went viral!

KFC Launches Promo Seeking Kim Go Eun Look-A-Like

Quick to jump on the bandwagon, KFC released a photo on June 22 of Michael Cordova posing like Gong Yoo in a “Goblin” poster. The photo shows Cordova parodying the famous poster of Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun (who plays the Goblin’s bride Ji Eun Tak) while a girl’s outline with a question mark leans against him. The caption of the photo reads: “Are you the look-alike bride of our look-alike Goblin?” It goes on to encourage people to submit their photos. KFC promises the lucky winner P5,000 of KFC Gift Certificates and a photoshoot with their lookalike Goblin.

Like the original post, KFC’s promo also went viral and now has over 84,000 likes and 32,000 shares. Currently, the most liked submitted photo is a parody picture given by Senyora Santibanez. But the photo that really sent netizens gushing belongs to Raquel Lucas, who has the second most-liked comment. Going through her Facebook photos, you really see her resemblance to Kim Go Eun. Could she be Cordova’s Goblin bride?
