“Kita Kita” (I See You) the Alessandra De Rossi-Empoy Marquez starrer premieres in the Philippines on May 12. The independent film that competed in the recent Osaka Film Festival will be shown at the UP Cine Adarna in Quezon City.
According to Pelikula Mania, the film’s main cast will be on hand after the premiere screening to answer questions.
Alessandra De Rossi And Empoy As Unlikely Couple In ‘Kita Kita’
In “Kita Kita,” Allesandra De Rossi gets paired with comedian Empoy Marquez. De Rossi plays the role of Lea, a Filipino tour guide living in Japan, while Marquez plays Tonyo, a Filipino who lives across her apartment.
The film’s trailer shows the two characters eating in a ramen shop. Their exchange is funny and witty, showing how comfortable the characters are with each other. Towards the end, one finds out that Lea is actually blind, which adds another layer to the relationship.
A synopsis by Pelikula Mania calls it a romantic comedy, which unfolds as Tonyo tries to win Lea with humor and kindness. Lea, on the other hand, deals with her blindness as she gets to know Tonyo. The synopsis further said: “This story is about perception and about how sometimes we can’t see the real story behind a person.”
Fresh From Osaka Film Festival
The film is produced by Spring Films which counts Piolo Pascual and Joyce Bernal as its co-owners. The other owners are Erickson Raymundo and Shayne Sarte. According to a PEP.ph report, Spring Films originally wanted to enter the film in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2016. They decided to pull out however in order to do further editing and post-production.
The movie made it to the Osaka Film Festival in February, together with other indie films like ‘Bliss’. It is directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, who directed ‘Ang Huling Cha-Cha ni Anita.’
