It is very much influential because of the K-Pop culture and the latest trends on Korean fashion. Through there heavy choreographed music videos to over-the-top fashion statements, it is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Now if you are not a K-Pop fan, here is one K-Pop idol group you should definitely know about, Blackpink! Here is why Blackpink should be on your music playlist: 1. Blackpink’s most viewed video on YouTube is “DDU- DU DDU-DU” with over 100 million views BlackPink’s “DDU- DU DDU-DU” music video has a record of 50 million views just two days after its debut. It’s one of the music videos to achieve that record among K-pop girl groups. The music video was released on June 15 and has already earned 33.7 million views in just 24 hours. As of now, Blank Pink’s “DDU- DU DDU-DU” already reached for over 100 million views on YouTube. 2.BlackPink reached top 1 in the music charts in over 44 countries BlackPink’s latest and comeback album “Square Up” was released in June 15 and really made noise not just in Korea. Their latest album featuring “DDU- DU DDU-DU” ranked top 1 on itunes in over 44 countries including Sweden, Hungary, Vietnam, Singapore, Finland, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Japan, Brunei, Cambodia, Denmark, Greece, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru and Russia. It peaked in the top 10 in the UK. BLACKPINK and 2NE1 are currently the only Korean girl groups to have a song in chart 40+ countries on iTunes. 3. They all have Undeniably Pretty faces All the members of the group have pretty faces. In fact 2 of them ranked as top 20 (Liza as top 15 and Jennie ranks top 18) in 100 Most beautiful faces in 2017. The Independent Critics List by TC Candler found these two women beautiful and ranked them in the top 20. 4. Record Breaking Debut Blackpink’s debut single “Whistle” won for the first time on Inkigayo. Inkigayo ( The Music Trend) is a South Korean Music Program that features some of the latest and most popular artists. They broke the record for the shortest time for a girl group to win the music program 13 days after their debut. In August 21, 2016, they released their first mini album ‘Square one’ under YG entertainment, carrying their hit songs ‘Boombayah’ and ‘Whistle’ which hit number one and two on the Billboard World Digital Songs Chart. BlackPink is the third girl K-pop group that got an all-kill on their debut in 2016. 5. BlackPink’s Liza controversy Liza, was disrespectfully cursed by 2 solid Hong Kong fans in one of their live radio guesting. These 2 Hong Kong people are suspected to be of Jennie fans who got angry to Liza because according to them she blocks Jennie while they are trying to get some photos of Jennie. A lot of BlackPink fans were bothered by this but still supported them both until the end. They even created a hashtag for Liza #WeLoveYouLiza. 6. BlackPink conquers Japan BlackPink conquered the stage of Japan with over 14,000 sold out tickets. BlackPink released their extended play “Square.” The Japanese complete EP album contains BlackPink’s Korean language singles and Japanese renditions of some of their songs. BlackPink’s extended Play topped the Oricon Daily Album Chart on August 29, 2017, with 21,583 physical copies sold in its first day and sold a total of 39,100 copies in Japan. 7. BLINKS Their fan Group named themselves as BLINKS. BLINK is a mixture of the Girl group name BLackpINK. Even other countries such as Japan and Hong Kong joined the fandom of BlackPink and counted themselves as J-Blinks and Hong Kong blinks. 8. The only girl group that doesn’t have a leader The group consists of four members: Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa. All of them have the same exposure when they perform on stage. Each of them has their own strength that help them keep having a good collaboration. 9. BlackPink has supposedly 9 members Originally, Blank Pink is said to be the group with 9 members but only 4 launched in 2016. There are 9 trainees that are suppose to be in the group named: Jisoo, Eunbi, Euna, Jennie, Miyeon, Rose, Lisa, Hanna, and Jinny. It was then named the group as “Pink Punk”. For some reasons, only 4 members were left in the group which are Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa. 10.
