On Easter Sunday, Kris Aquino had big news for her fans and the public: she will be working on a new project in Hollywood. The Queen of All Media shared that she will be signing her contract for the project in the U.S. this week.
According to her Instagram post, Kris is scheduled to fly to California on the night of Easter Sunday. There, she will meet her agent, Chris Lee to sign the contract.
Kris Aquino Shares Her Disappointments
Kris who is known for being an open book to her fans about her personal experiences, shared her disappointments the past year. The host and actress has been trying to make a comeback in the industry. Her latest project was a travel special called Trip Ni Kris which was aired on GMA-7.
She described in her Instagram post how her “spirit broke” after getting several rejections. She also said that the reason for these rejections was the fact that she was an Aquino and getting her was a “political risk” in these times.
Kris Aquino Talks About How She Auditioned
She also detailed how her new project came about. According to her, Filipino director Jhett Tolentino got in touch with her in late March. Tolentino was helping out an agent-friend look for talent for an upcoming Hollywood studio film.
With only 72 hours until the deadline for the audition reel, Kris and her team put together an audition shoot. This was staged in Manila Peninsula and after post-production work, the reel was sent off for review. She said that she went through “5 levels of scrutiny” before she was offered the role.
Kris however cannot share any details of the film until the studio allows her to. She signed a non-disclosure agreement which prevents her from revealing anything about her role and the movie.
Lastly, Kris framed her story as something that will hopefully offer encouragement and hope to those who read it. She said, “I am proof that in life doors will shut & there will be heartbreaking setbacks but FAITH in God’s plan will open new, unexpected doors.”
Kris Aquino In Crazy Rich Asians?
Rumors have also been circulating that the film in question may be the film adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s Crazy Rich Asians. Filming for the movie which stars Constance Wu and Henry Golding will be starting soon. It is also no secret that the film director has been actively looking for Asian talent to be part of the film.
Speculation about this started when Kris shared several posts about Kevin Kwan’s series as her reading material several weeks ago, according to L’Officiel. This was then followed by her announcement of her Hollywood contract.
