Model and Business mogul Kylie Jenner is popular for everything chic. Unsurprisingly, the Kylie Lip Kit collection have gained the same reputation– famous and fashionable.

The whole lipstick craze began in late 2015 when the 19-year old fashion icon first released three shades of her Kylie Lip Kit. In a matter of minutes after the release, stocks got sold out. And it continued to do so for almost every release date. Yep, it’s that wanted.

Two years later, this makeup collection is turning into a multi-billion dollar industry. In fact, it’s earned $420 million dollars in retail sales, according to this article. So if you’re not at all curious about the Kylie Lip Kit, you can’t deny the fact that everybody else is. If I were you, you should get to the bottom of it– just like I did.

To Buy or Not to Buy a Kylie Lip Kit?

Without further ado, I will now go into detail my 12 hours wearing a king Kylie lipstick in the shade Koko K.

Before applying lipstick, I usually put on a coat of lip balm to avoid dryness. But as I’ve learned for some matte products, it would stick better without a Chapstick on. So I fish out the lip liner, and carefully drew the sides of my lips. The lip liner was very smooth like it had its own moisturizer on it.

I then pull out the Koko K from its case. This is a matte liquid lipstick, and the shade is ‘pale pink.’ It’s a clash of nude and colored. Although the shade was slightly more pink than I initially thought. But that’s what you get from ordering it online.

Swiping the product on was fun. The applicator didn’t collect too much product, so it was fairly easy to put it on when rushing. As I coated my lips, it mattified within five seconds and it felt very light–like I could stretch my mouth without fearing a color crack.

Wearing it, I can testify to how the lips looked slightly thicker than it usually does. Maybe it was the liner. Or maybe it was the Kylie magic, but I did like how full it made my lips look. The color was indeed gorgeous, and the product felt powdery on my lips– but definitely not dry.

Minutes later, I can feel the product seeping into my lips– it’s tightening and that’s a normal thing for matte liquid lipsticks.

Six hours into my Kylie Lip experience, and I’m loving how it sticks with me. What impressed me most was that it stuck even after I ate my lunch, and even while I drank a lot of water. Although it did begin to lose the inner lip lining and cracked from all the liquid I had been taking in.

Eventually, somewhere in my 8th hour wearing it, it felt dry. So I reapplied it once the entire day. But I admit, the re-applying felt heavier than the first application.

I also had a hard time removing the product with wet wipes or makeup wipes. I had to rub my lips with a thick amount of petroleum to take the product out. So be careful about smearing it anywhere else, because it will be a challenge removing it.

In the Philippines, it’s not easy to order a legitimate Kylie Lip Kit. Nor is it priced as cheaply as we could have wanted. You can only buy them online like in Lazada. But for most Filipinas like myself, we order from retailers in Instagram who buy and sell legitimate Kylie Lip Kits. Some of them are Shophk, Makeup Authority PH, Kissed PH, etc. and the shipping fee isn’t even included in the already pricey tag. So with about PHP 1,500 worth of Lip Kit, you get a plus on the shipping fee which can cost about PHP 100-200 depending on where you’re at.

For an expensive product with a lot of reputation, I would say go for it. No lipstick is perfect, but there are some that are too pretty to say no to. And the Kylie Lip Kit sure is one of them.
