KZ Tandingan Ends Journey On Singer 2018, Sings Freddie Aguilar’s Hit ‘Anak’

After three weeks since her elimination, KZ Tandingan performs on the Singer 2018 stage once again. The Philippines’ Soul Supreme wore white to the show and sang the iconic Freddie Aguilar hit “Anak.” Unfortunately, despite all her efforts, KZ didn’t make it through the Breakout Rounds thus concluding her journey on the hit Hunan Television show.

Breakout Round is Singer 2018’s wildcard round. The network asked four of the eliminated contestants to come back and perform again. Whoever wins out of the four wildcard contestants will have a spot in the show’s Final 7. Singer 2018’s finale episode will be next week, April 13.

KZ Tandingan is the epitome of ‘Anak’

Tandingan wows the viewers of the show as she performed “Anak” in its original language. She is not the Philippines’ Soul Supreme for nothing. Once again, she delivered a soulful rendition of what was once an iconic OPM hit.

Anak is a song by Filipino singer-songwriter Freddie Aguilar. It was a finalist for the 1977 Inaugural Metropop in Manila. Since then, it became an international hit. It was translated into 26 different languages. One of which is Mandarin. The song talks about the family values that the Filipinos have.

In the show, Tandingan was in an interview with the Philippine Ambassador to China, Jose Santiago Santa Romana. The Philippine Ambassador sat with her and interviewed her as seen on the show’s VTR.

Although Tandingan put all efforts in her performance, she didn’t make it through the Breakout Rounds. She ends her Singer 2018 journey here. MJ Felipe, ABS-CBN’s reporter, confirmed this in a tweet.

Of course, Tandingan’s fans took to Twitter their dismay on the show’s decision. As of press writing, Tandingan’s Twitter account is in private. She didn’t take the prize of winning the contest, but she won the hearts of many. Tandingan will always be Philippines’ Soul Supreme.
