KZ Tandingan Goes ‘Real Gone’ In ‘Singer 2018’ Episode 08

 

In this week’s episode of Hunan Television’s “Singer 2018,” KZ Tandingan takes on a song she hasn’t heard of. “Real Gone” is a pop-rock single by American singer Sheryl Crow. Crow is a pop-rock artist with hit songs like “The First Cut Is The Deepest.” The song is Disney-Pixar’s “Cars” official soundtrack.

Canceled last week, the show returned this week with Tandingan opening the show. The show went on hiatus to make way for Yuan Xiao or the annual Lantern Festival. It is the climax of the Chinese New Year.

KZ Tandingan: “Filipino made, spotlight, world stage.”

Tandingan, who always has been a constant show favorite, went first this week. She sang the “Cars” theme “Real Gone,” something she hasn’t heard of according to ABS-CBN. But to everyone’s surprise, she played an instrument. A separate article from ABS-CBN also says the guitar she performed with is a limited-edition Supreme Fender Stratocaster. It is a collaboration with the clothing brand Supreme and guitar company Fender. It has a value around $1998.

The show’s musical director owns the said guitar. They lent her the guitar because she wasn’t able to bring her own. It was a last-minute decision to make her play an instrument for the show.

It was a challenge for Tandingan to perform on-stage this week. She hasn’t heard the song and had to learn the chords due to the last-minute decision for her to perform with a guitar. In total, she had three days to complete the routine.

She also changed the original lyrics of the song “American made, Bud light, Chevrolet” to “Filipino made, spotlight, world stage” and proceeded to finish the song with a rap.

Although she looked a bit static on-stage, Tandingan managed to land 5th place. She still continues with the show. All she has to do is to refrain herself from landing the last place so she could stay in the competition.

British singer Jessie J was a “no-show” this week. Reports say that the singer is sick and was unable to be in rehearsals in taping. Because of this, the episode was a non-elimination one. All contestants are through to the next episode.
