Past contestant KZ Tandingan will return to the Chinese TV show “Singer 2018.” After five episodes, the audience of the show voted to eliminate Tandingan. But since she is a crowd favorite, the show considered her to be part of the “Breakout” round. She’s putting the OPM out there again with her Mandarin version of “Anak” by Freddie Aguilar on Singer 2018 April 13 episode. The “Breakout” round is like the wildcard round. Other eliminated contestants will come back the show. But only four of the said contestants will return. That includes Filipino pride Tandingan. KZ Tandingan: “Filipino made, spotlight, world stage.” Since Tandingan will be back on the April 06 episode, here’s a quick run-through in her status on the show. Singer 2018 Episode 5 In the “Singer 2018’s” episode five, Tandingan the producers chose to become a challenger on the show. She sang her rendition of the Adele hit “Rolling in the Deep.” Tandingan incorporated the use of vocal filters and unique arrangements to her advantage. A rap verse in Filipino also added flair to her rendition of the song. She scored the highest in the episode; beating British superstar Jessie J. To show the Chinese audience she’s serious about winning the show, she opted for a Mandarin song. Being Philippines’ Soul Supreme, it was easy for Tandingan to evoke emotions. Her rendition of “The Hurts You Never Knew” made her a household name. She ranked 6th in this decision. Although out of the top 4, Tandingan qualified as a regular contender due to her first-place finish in the prior episode. Episode 7 The pressure rises for Tandingan in her third attempt on the show. This week, she encountered a challenge. Producers of the show decided to do a last-minute change of song. Although the network did not mention the original choice for Tandingan, she chose “Say Something” as the replacement. “Say Something” is A Great Big World’s song with singer Christina Aguilera. Tandingan flew her personal guitarist for the show Macoy Portado to play the guitar for her. No announcement of ranking for this week. Episode 8 With the theme “Movie OST,” Tandingan performs a least-known movie soundtrack. “Real Gone” is a song by American singer Sheryl Crow. Disney-Pixar used the single for their hit 2006 film “Cars.” It was a struggle for Tandingan since she didn’t know the song herself. But she managed to power through the rehearsals. In the live shows, she even showed how powerful her vocals are by belting. She also added a rap verse for the bridge which made the audience wild. Before going home, she sang an upbeat version of Lorde’s “Royals.” But due to her low scores from the past weeks, the audience voted her to go home. Episode 10 The bond that Tandingan had with the audience is strong. For episode 10, she returned as a farewell to her Chinese fans. Singing “See You Again” in Mandarin, Tandingan sang a promise that she will be back. She didn’t disappoint them. Later that night, her agency Cornerstone Entertainment, confirmed that Tandingan is back for one more round. She will battle with four other eliminated contestants for a chance to be part of the Magic 7. The Magic 7 is the final set of regular contestants to fight for the title on April 13. Tandingan is one of the confirmed artists to return to the Singer 2018 stage. According to an article by Manila Bulletin, Tandingan will sing a Mandarin version of the song “Anak” by Freddie Aguilar. Other countries have translations for the song due to its popularity before. Mandarin is one of the languages it got translated to. Fans started a rumor that Tandingan will perform the song in the episode where she sang Say Something. But they needed to change it last minute. Episode 12 will air on the Hunan Television on April 13. As of press writing, photos of Tandingan rehearsing surfaced the internet.
