Supremo holding Tristan and Malia by the neck.

It’s been two days since La Luna Sangre aired its final episode. It broke and mended the hearts of the thousands who watched The Final Battle on March 2. Everything the series built up all boiled down to the three stars: Kathryn Bernardo as Malia Rodriguez, Daniel Padilla as Tristan Toralba, and Richard Gutierrez as Sandrino Villalobo/Supremo.

La Luna Sangre is the third installment of the Moonstone series. It followed “Imortal” starring John Lloyd Cruz and “Lobo” starring Angel Locsin.

La Luna Sangre Mar. 2 Episode, Recap

The end began with Tristan. With hopes of bringing his brother back to the good side, he was on his way to meet Sandrino. Across each other atop bridges, they start talking. Tristan says he finally understands why Sandrino became what he became. Sandrino on the other hand, full of anger and bloodlust, tells Tristan he is here to die.

Back at the La Liga Unida headquarters/safehouse, Apple,Tristan’s sister, is still mourning the death of her grandparents. She feels even sadder because Collin has to go back to America. Because of her loneliness, she calls Collin. She ends up putting the both of them in danger instead. Sandrino’s hypnotic message is still echoing through the airwaves. Apple and Collin fall under his spell and join the other “zombies” into their death.

After Lemuel informs Jake of Apple’s escape, Gael shows a video of the hoard of people mindlessly walking. Malia tells them to handle that while she handles Tristan and Sandrino.

LLU get to the hoard and find out Supremo used WC Telecom to spread a mass hypnotic message. Gael says the only way to wake them up is to shut down WC Telecom. They follow the people to sea, trying to stop them from drowning and still trying but failing to wake them up. Jake, carrying a backpack, runs into one of Sandrino’s lackeys and his former friend. After battling it out, Jake hands him the backpack. After a few moments, the other members of LLU hear the explosion, making the WC Telecom building crash and burn. The people wake up just as the water hits their chest.

Back to the battleground, Sandrino wants Tristan’s life. Tristan is happy to give it to him after he talks to him as a brother. He wants his brother to see that there is still good in the world. Sandrino isn’t having any of it as he can sense Malia’s presence, lurking and waiting. Waiting for her to kill him. Tristan still persists, telling Sandrino to remember who he is, that they can help each other. Fighting hard, the relatively good Sandrino separates himself, telling Tristan he believes him. He blames the Cursed Ink for what he has become and wants one last chance to do things right. The more evil Supremo gets him back in and then they fight.

Finally, Supremo manages to punch through Tristan’s chest, leaving him on the brink of death, telling him his beating heart was his weakness and is now his end. Malia arrives. Seeing what Supremo did to her love, her anger heightens and fights Sandrino with all her strength. Sandrino tells Malia that she is weak and is not fit to lead. Malia stops and shouts at Sandrino to look what he’s done to his brother. Feeling no remorse and guilt, she runs to Tristan to kill him but shifts at the last second and punches Malia right through her stomach.

Now, the Destined One and the Strongest Vampire are both on the ground, bloody and breathing their last breaths. Before they could hold hands for the last time, Sandrino picks them up by their necks. Off the ground, Malia and Tristan hold each other’s hands. A huge burst of energy starts to course into them, bringing them all the strength. With it, they both punch Sandrino through the chest. He falls to the ground and splits into the two. The more evil Supremo immediately bursts into flames. Sandrino, now conscious and renewed, lay on the ground gasping for air with blood dripping down his mouth. Sandrino lives long enough for Tristan to cradle his head and tell him “Tapos na. Salamat.” He thanked his brother for saving him from himself. Before leaving in a white light, Sandrino tells Tristan he loves him.

The show ends with Malia. She’s on a mountain and starts to give a monologue. She says even though the battle is over, they will never stop fighting. As long as a vampire, a werewolf, or a human is in danger, they will be there to save the day. Because there will always be bad in this world and the only way to end the bad is if every heart brings the good out. Tristan comes and they both enjoy the view together.

With 29.8 million tweets, people of all corners of the country voiced their love (and a little bit of hate) for the finale La Luna Sangre.
