President Rodrigo Duterte has declared Martial Law in Mindanao. He is en route back to the Philippines cutting short his visit to Russia to be with his fellow countrymen as a so-called ISIS group left people killed and injured in Marawi attack. Meanwhile, Filipino singer and actress Leah Navarro has been drawing flak for a comment she posted on Twitter asking where the President is now that Marawi needs him most.

A report by ABS-CBN relays a timeline of events that took place in Marawi City. On Tuesday, May 23, at around 1:45 p.m. A joint operation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police deployed troops to capture terrorist leader Isnilon Hapilon, who is believed to the leader of ISIS in Southeast Asia. A firefight between the troops and Maute group created panic among the residents. This happens just a day after President Duterte left for Russia. Leah Navarro then posted on Twitter talking about the absence of the President during these times and most people are just angry about it.

Leah Navarro draws flak on Twitter

The post on Twitter was up at around 8:00 p.m. on May 23. Since then, netizens on Twitter have been rambling about her comment. She said, “When the people of Marawi need him most, nasasan ang pangulo? Akala ko mahal niya ang Mindanao. Ayan, puno ng terorista.”

Looking at the comment feed of her tweet, one can already see she’s being shut down by many. People are calling her stupid, enemy of the state, sore loser, bugok, human without a brain and more. The list goes on. Here are some of the Twitter posts we’ve seen in response to Leah Navarro’s post.
