Lee Seo Won is the 20-year-old actor who’s been making waves in the Korean entertainment industry. Ever since his acting debut in 2015, he has gone on to star in high-rating K-dramas. Two of these K-dramas are “The Liar and His Lover” and “Hospital Ship.” Because of his much-praised acting, he’s rumored to be the next Song Joong Ki or Park Bo Gum.

Netizens and fans have noticed Lee Seo Won following the same footsteps that his seniors took before him. After all, Lee Seo Won is also under Blossom Entertainment, the agency of Song Joong Ki and Park Bo Gum.  On top of that, Kim Min Ji, the director of “The Liar and His Lover” declared that Lee Seo Won is set to stand on the same grounds as his seniors as one of K-drama’s biggest and most beloved superstars. However, the young actor stated that he wants people to love him as himself. The more he was compared to these two top-notch actors, the more he thinks that he should work harder.

In a report by Soompi, Lee Seo Won’s exact words are ,“It is a huge honor for me to be referred to them. However, I’m worried that this kind of interest will cause them inconvenience. Who am I to be compared to those two? I just want to grow as myself and settle down as an actor. I don’t want to cause trouble for others by being someone’s modifier. I just want to be loved as me.”

2. Lee Seo Won Says He’s Not a Perfectionist

In an interview with Elle Korea, Lee Seo Won was asked to describe what kind of person he was. He answered that he was a curious person. He also mentioned that he didn’t like showing the things he wasn’t good at to others. For example, he doesn’t want anyone watching him while he practices dance moves he just learned. He said that he had this quality not because he was a perfectionist. He just didn’t like being embarrassed.

As a child, Lee Seo Won was timid. He had a hard time making friend with other kids. What made it more difficult was that his family was always moving because his father served in the military. But, when he was in the 2nd or 3rd grade, he decided to change this. That was also the time when he came to realize his dream of being an actor. In the same interview with Elle, he said, “When I filled out my future job section, I had so many jobs I wanted to write down. I thought I don’t think I can’t experience all the jobs I want to do. Then I realized that I can be an actor to experience many different jobs. That was the beginning of my dream.”

3. He Just Doesn’t Act His Roles, He Lives Them

When Lee Seo Won takes a role, he dedicates himself to it. In his interview with Elle, he mentioned how he looks at acting in two ways. First of all, he said that he has to be careful and avoid being sloppy or cocky because he felt that this is destroying the dreams of people who want to become famous. Second, Lee Seo Won’s profession follows the role that he took. He said that he tries his best to act in a manner that would not offend these people he is representing. This dedication is proven by how far he went to prepare for his role as Kim Jae Gul in “Ship Hospital.” After getting accepted in auditions, the young actor supposedly interviewed real-life doctors and pumped himself full of movies and dramas about them.

4. An Accident Almost Ended His Acting Career Before It Even Started

Back in 2014, Lee Seo Won was involved in a car accident which left him injured badly. He was walking through a crosswalk when a car running the red light hit him. The actor was supposed to perform a contemporary dance for an audition that day. He was also slated to appear in a movie along the same time. However, the movie fell through. In Allkpop’s report, Lee Seo Won said, “I thought about a lot of things at the time. I thought to myself that one could become so useless so suddenly. I was able to learn a valuable lesson about life.” The next year, he appeared in the drama “Awl” as a guest star. His recent successes prove that he was able to rise above the accident quickly.

5. Lee Seo Won Got a Taste of the Music Scene Through “Music Bank”

After his stint as Suzy’s younger brother in “Uncontrollably Fond,” “Music Bank” cast Lee Seo Won as their new MC. He replaced CNBLUE’s Minhyuk and producers partnered him with LABOUM’s Solbin. Song Joong Ki and Park Bo Gum also went through the show as MC’s as well. In an interview reported by Allkpop, Lee Seo Won compared his role in “Music Bank” to coffee. He said, “’Music Bank’ is like coffee. You can always have a cup of coffee after enjoying a hearty meal. I feel like ‘Music Bank’ is just that.“ To the delight of his fans, he has also shared his deep and masculine voice to the music scene a couple of times in the show.
