Reports say he was found dead in his home near Los Angeles on Thursday, July 20. His death is being investigated but is now being treated as a possible suicide. Meanwhile, celebs and fans mourn the death of this famed singer. Born Chester Charles Benngington on March 20, 1976, this American singer and songwriter became instantly famous with the release of Linkin Park’s debut album, “Hybrid Theory” in 2000. It was uphill from then on for the rock band as the album was certified Diamond in 2005. It became the best selling-debut album of the decade. Many more hit albums came but the band sure did pave the way for other rock bands right after. Chester was also the lead singer for Dead by the Sunrise and Stone Temple Pilots. Celebs mourn death of Linkin Park lead vocals A report by the New York Times said Chester was found dead in his home near Los Angeles. The chief of operations for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office Brian Elias said it was being investigated as a possible suicide. Bennington’s death is not too far away from the passing of his friend Chris Cornell, lead vocals of Soundgarden and Audioslave. In May, Cornell also took his own life in Detroit where the band had just performed as stated in a separate report by the New York Times. At that time, Chester made public a letter to his friend saying, “I can’t imagine a world without you in it. I pray you find peace in the next life.” Interestingly enough, Chris Cornell’s birthday falls on July 20 which is the same day Chester took his own life. Chris Cornell’s death was suicide by hanging. A report by TMZ says law enforcement tells them Chester Bennington’s death is also suicide by hanging. Linkin Park was scheduled to start a concert tour on July 27.
