LizQuen Turns 5, How The Couple Changed Through The Years

LizQuen celebrates its 5th anniversary as a love team.

Liza Soberano is a half-Filipina and half-American from the United States of America. Enrique Gil is a mixture of Filipino, German, and Spanish blood from the Philippines. They may have lived most of their lives in different parts of the world, but these people have the time that they have right now worthwhile. Five years ago, they met. LizQuen became a beautiful history.

“LizQuen,” or Soberano and Gil’s love team, is Kapamilya Network’s most sought-after artists in showbiz right now. In five years, the love team has produced many movies and TV shows. They have also made an army of fans that would defend them if needed.

LizQuen is now 5, the journey through ‘forevermore’

2013

On March 13, 2013, Soberano and Gil’s world changed. Back then it was Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla who ruled love teams in the Philippines. But LizQuen’s stint in the KathNiel film “Must Be… Love” was their entry to the world of showbiz. Soberano played a character which became Padilla and Bernardo’s third wheel in the film. In the end, Soberano’s character found the love she was looking for through Gil’s character. Although their exposure was just short, the film gave ABS-CBN an idea that the love team could work.

 2014

In 2014, the love team split for a while. Soberano joins the cast of KathNiel’s “Got to Believe.” The love team got back together later that year with “Forevermore.” It was a show directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. Shot in Benguet, LizQuen lived in the cold parts of Northern Luzon for the teleserye. The show broke records in 2014 and had the highest ratings in Philippine TV History. During the milestone that the show achieved, ABS-CBN considered the love team LizQuen. This makes them official.

2015

It is a good year for LizQuen. In fact, MMFF awarded them as “The Breakthrough Love Team of 2015.” With “Forevermore” ending, the couple had its first on-screen kiss. This lands their final episode with a mile-high 39.3% viewership. Although the love team lied low for a few months, they returned with a film towards the end of the year. A Wattpad story re-titled as “Just The Way You Are” thus became love team’s first solo film. They also starred along with Gerald Anderson in “Everyday I Love You” in the same year.

2016

They had a telserye in 2016. Dolce Amore is a romantic-comedy show. It is under the direction of May Cruz-Alviar. It stars LizQuen among with other stars like Matteo Guidicelli, Cherie Gil, and Sunshine Cruz.

2017

“My Ex and Whys” is LizQuen’s project in 2017. Gil played the role of a guy who is a womanizer. Soberano played a girl who is a man-hater. The two characters meet at a party. The guests of the party dared them to be in a party game. To the twist of fate, they both end up falling for each other. Their relationship continued until Gil’s character cheats on Soberano’s ex. Gil then asks for forgiveness from Soberano until her character forgives him in the end. The film grossed 400 million pesos worldwide and 2017’s highest-grossing film.

 2018

On the love team’s fifth year, more projects came to them. LizQuen is now working on “Bagani.” It is a fantasy-fiction TV series which airs every weeknight on ABS-CBN. The show drew flak against the love team in the case of appropriation and miscasting. Although it drew some bad reputation, the show still managed to achieve high ratings. It only proves how powerful the love team has become. As of press writing, there are no upcoming shows for them. But Soberano is set to fly as Filipino heroin “Darna” this year.
