Share on Facebook Share on Twitter “Dolce Amore” artists Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil will return to Philippine Television Drama! For the first time in their careers, the LizQuen will be starring in a Fantaserye on ABS-CBN called: “Bagani”– and it’s going to be jam-packed with action. Bagani airs for the first time on ABS-CBN’s FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano on Feb 1. But since we have a few more hours of daylight before primetime, let’s get to know the series more before the “Bagani: Unang Sulyap” tonight. Here’s a list of things you need to know about LizQuen’s upcoming Television drama series, “Bagani:” 5 Things to Know About LizQuen’s ‘Bagani’ 1. “Game of Thrones”-feels. If you watched the 30-second trailer, you’re sure to catch a glimpse of some mermaids, dragons, and a colony of soldiers. It’s as if we’re watching a GOT remake for Philippine Television. Other than these interesting characters, we are also introduced to locations like the desert, villages, and even tents by the waters. It’s a definitely interesting series– from set design to costume design to characters presented. Fans on Twitter have even commended the cinematography of the teaser, saying it gave them the Hollywood vibes. See screenshot below. 2. “Bagani” is “Bayani.” In an interview with lead actor Enrique Gil, he reveals that the story of this upcoming Fantaserye is actually about the Philippines. This means that the plot will be rooted in some historical truths and legends that have made us a nation of our own– but with some magic involved. He told ABS-CBN: “Para siyang bayani. It’s the story about how the Philippines, ‘di ba archipelagic tayo, how the Philippines was born. It’s about our culture.” 3. Main Cast will represent Elements. Another look into series and we find out that the characters will be representing natural elements. Enrique Gil will be Earth, Liza Soberano is the air, Matteo Guidicelli will represent fire, Makisig Morales is wood, and Sofia Andres is Water. Most of the time, fire is associated with the enemy, but we’re unsure if Matteo will be the main antagonist in “Bagani.” Guess we’ll find out tonight! 4. It’s a bit controversial. Another thing you need to know about “Bagani” is that as soon as the series released their trailer, fans have recognized it to be somewhat similar to GMA-7’s “Encantadia.” According to them, the look and feel of the show, the fact that the main characters represent the elements, and the overall theme are a few factors that make it similar to the Kapuso fantaserye. But that’s not all because this controversy reached the higher-ups of ABS-CBN and GMA-7 and engaged in a little twitter war: 5. Twitter Battle over “Bagani” and “Encantadia.” On Twitter, a personal war commenced between GMA consultant Suzette Doctolero and ABS-CBN Headwriter of Star Creatives, Mark Duane Angos. GMA consultant Suzette replied to a netizen’s comment about comparing “Bagani” to “Encantadia” as reported by PEP. She sarcastically responded saying at least they changed something– and that the costumes looked more circus-like than a convincing fantastical, historical show. Meanwhile, Mark Angos tweeted that Suzette should watch her words because she’s been accused of copying THE CW’S “Arrow.” After the discourse, the GMA consultant deleted her tweets and only screenshots of their conversation are circling the internet. She’s a nuisance in our small community of writers, tolerated in the spirit of ‘paggalang sa nakakatanda.’ Friends from GMA also believe in a diverse & dynamic TV landscape- supporting & learning from each other. Network war is an illusion propagated by those stuck in the past. — mark duane angos (@markangos) November 30, 2017 Watch a sneak peek of “Bagani: Unang Sulyap” via ABS-CBN Entertainment YouTube channel.
