A woman with Twitter handle @rsrzy manages to live tweet the people’s escape from the Grenfell Tower while fire started to engulf the building. The woman does all this while being trapped in the 24-storey tower block herself. According to a report by the Mirror, the woman’s first tweet was around 1:40 in the morning when she sends a response to an onlooker of the fire. User @rsrzy says that she was “stuck in this block” in a tweet that was about the struggle of the firefighters. About 200 firefighters and 40 engines from the London Fire Brigade were on the scene to combat the fire. The woman continues with a tweet saying “Can’t leave my house because I’ll die from the smoke.” Jumping Out Of Windows Some time later, the same Twitter user says that people are jumping out of the windows of the burning building. These residents were going to these lengths just to escape. She tweets “panicking because people are jumping out the window and I can’t leave my house at all.” From her tweets alone, followers caught a glimpse of the incident and expressed their concern for her safety. Around 4 am, the woman posts an update of her situation and her successful escape. Her tweet includes a photo outside of the tower and saying “I’m safe guys, please don’t worry”. Aside from her live tweets inside the building, onlookers also took to posting updates from outside Grenfell Tower. Video updates and photo updates are also up on Twitter for concerned users to see Grenfell Towe Fire updates. According to the Telegraph, 12 are dead, 18 in critical care and 79 people are currently being treated in six hospitals. Facebook Comments
