The theme song of Disney’s “Moana,” “How Far I’ll Go,” is released. Walt Disney Studios Southeast Asia selected multi-talented Janella Salvador to sing and appear in the music video. Disney Channel launched the video simultaneously with Walt Disney Philippines. Janella is one of the five singers from Southeast Asia selected to cover the song originally done by Alessia Cara.

Tony Award-Winning Composer wrote ‘How Far I’ll Go’

The soundtrack of Moana includes seven original songs. How Far I’ll Go” is one of the repertoire. Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the hit song. He is the “Hamilton” Tony Award-winning composer. The song reflects the film’s plot about leaving the South Pacific island to restore the pride of being master voyagers.

Janella Rises Above Other Asian Countries

Five singers from the Southeast of Asia covered the song in their local languages. These four singers include Maudy Ayunda (Indonesia), Ayda Jebat (Malaysia), Myra Molloy (Thailand) and MinhNhu (Vietnam). Janella championed the selection.

“Moana” will be released in Philippine theaters on November 30.
