LOOK: ‘Starbucks Uncle’ in Hongkong, Twitter Reactions You Must See

'Starbucks Uncle' enjoying a cup of coffee in the midst of flood

In a Starbucks outlet in Chai Wan District in Hongkong, an old man enjoys a cup of coffee holding a newspaper in the middle of a flood during a typhoon this week. The photo has gone viral ever since it was shared via TV most. It has almost 19,000 likes and around 2,500 shares. Nobody seems to know the name of this old man, but since it has been a trending photo, the old man is now dubbed as “Starbucks Uncle.”

Hong Kong experienced flash floods and monsoon downpours recently. One of the badly affected areas during the typhoon was the shopping center in Hong Kong Chai Wan district, where ‘Starbucks uncle’ was. Hong Kong is now preparing for a much stronger typhoon that hit the Philippines a few days earlier, Typhoon Haima.

According to BBC, the photo was captured by 23-year-old medical worker, Kristy Chan. Apparently, she was just taking photos of how bad the weather was during the typhoon. She merely wanted to share the photos to her family and didn’t expect any of it to go viral. Kristy Chan said, “It was quite funny. Maybe he already has that many life experiences so the flood didn’t bother him at all.”

The photo has now been internet’s favorite photo and has had a lot of memes. Let’s look at some of them.
