The singer from New Zealand, Lorde, is in hot waters for posting a picture of a bathtub with “I Will Always Love You” lyrics by the late Whitney Houston. The photo was posted earlier on April 6 and has since been deleted. Lorde deleted the photo after receiving backlash online for her post.
Whitney Houston, the winner of six Grammy awards, was found dead in the bathtub of her hotel room in Beverly Hills, California in February of 2012. The coroner’s official statement listed accidental drowning as the cause of death. Drugs were also involved as part of the cause of death. “Effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use” the statement reads.
Lorde apologizes for “poorly chosen quote”
After the Internet hit her hard, the two-time Grammy award winner took to Instagram and posted an apology on her IG story. “Extremely extremely poorly chosen quote,” she started. She adds that she was just “excited to take a bath.”
In the end, she called herself an idiot and said, “Love Whitney forever and ever.”
The original Instagram post was deleted, but people on the internet have taken screenshots. The photo is now still circulating along with the negative comments netizens have to say. Here’s what the internet had to say about it.
“lorde is probably sitting in the tub not realizing what she just did” one Twitter user wrote and added a screenshot of Lorde’s bathtub picture.
Another one posted, “This is disgusting idk how people find it funny. Whitney was a legend. she was amazing. she was a queen. she was a strong black woman. I like lorde but this is truly disgusting” with another screenshot of the original post.
Fans quickly came to her defense before and after seeing her Story.
