The bookshop’s hardwood floor and wooden shelves add to the place’s warm and cozy atmosphere, which invokes a sense of home. Here, books are for more than just sitting on the shelves and being on display; Mt. Cloud allows its customers to browse the pages of the books without a time limit compared to other bookshops that forbid their customers to read for a long time. One of the goals of Mt. Cloud is to let customers, especially first-timers, feel a sense of nostalgia and comfort once they enter the bookshop.

Short Story of Mt. Cloud

Mt. Cloud started with daydreaming from Padma Perez, who dreamed of having her little bookshop one day; together with her sister, Feliz Padma, who also has a heart for books, established Mt. Cloud bookshop in 2010 at the corner of Casa Vallejo, one of the oldest hotels in Baguio. It eventually became a landmark for all book lovers, whether it may be a local or a tourist. Because of the tight space and increasing visitors, Mt. Cloud moved to its current location, Yangco Road, near Brent International School. And they also decided to add stationery supplies with unique designs to their list of products. With a growing community of literature lovers, they host events like book signings, book launches, open mics, etc., for local and independent writers, which are also free of charge.

“Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.” – Mason Cooley.

For a bookworm, one of the best moments in life would be sitting outside on a patio, reading a book, and having a cup of coffee while enjoying the rays of the sun hitting your face. Here at Mt.Cloud Bookshop, experience a discovery that never ends with the extraordinary selection of their books and a cup of coffee from their partner, Hot Cat Cafe. Indulge yourself with books and coffee as you take your whole afternoon enjoying the ambiance it gives.

A Cup of Wisdom from Mt.Cloud

With all the unwavering support and love from their new and regular customers, whether local or tourists, they would like to express their gratitude to all of them despite all the challenges and difficulties they have faced. Mt. Cloud Bookshop expressed their hope that their patrons would continue supporting them and all other bookshops with the same vision as them. For a growing writer community, continue to support local.
