A year and a half in college and Yolanda Apostol has never been in a relationship. She wasn’t even looking for love. She was beautiful, so beautiful that jocks, nerds, and musicians would line up to court her. But she was not interested in any of them. No matter how attractive, smart or talented they are, she would not budge. She was too busy with school and her family.
Peter John Quiano, however, was the polar opposite. He was a ladies’ man and a social butterfly, a bad boy right out a T.V. screen. Wearing ripped jeans, cowboy boots, and leather jacket, all the girls swoon when he walks by.

It was fate that crossed their paths and love at first sight that brought them together. It was a Friday when Jopet walked into the classroom. He was dumbfounded the moment he saw Yoli sitting in the front row, looking mysterious and quiet. He thought, “Who is she?” He tried to look cool and make her notice him but she paid him no attention. However, Yoli’s heart instantly beat differently the moment he breezed into the room. She did not concentrate on the lesson the teacher was discussing. Instead, she was focused on him. She knew he was it.
Funny enough, before he could make move on her, they saw each other at a theater workshop the following day. My mom was surprised but pleased to see him in the theater. He was on stage doing some funny moves. He smiled and stared at her differently. They formally introduced themselves and started talking and getting to know each other. In the middle of the workshop, my dad asked her if he could get her landline number. Shocked and assuming he liked her, she gave it. My dad asked one of his friends who was classmates with her to get her class schedule so he could pick her up. His friend ratted him out when she asked who was asking for it.
A week later, my dad invited her to watch a movie in Session Theater. Before he even asked if it was okay for him to formally court her, he held her hand and leaned his head on her shoulder. Another week after he started officially courting her, he asked if she liked him too. She said yes, of course. He asked, “So are we now boyfriend-girlfriend?” She just smiled and he put his arm around her.
