Maalaala Mo Kaya June 17: Piolo Pascual, Selfless Father In MMK’s Father’s Day Special

The special Father’s Day episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya June 17 stars Piolo Pascual, Ryan, who sells corn in Tondo. He and his wife, Rosalyn (Isabelle Daza) are parents to two daughters. A day came when Ryan had a stroke paralyzing him and leaving his speech slurred. Soon after, his wife leaves him for another so he is the only one left to take care of their children. His story has gone viral in Facebook through a picture taken of him watching his children eating in a fast food chain.

The story revolves around resilience and that special commitment and love to raise children despite hurdles and countless difficulty. In the story, Ryan strives hard to keep his family whole. In the end, what matters is how one man, a father, stays true to his call to be selfless and lion-hearted as a father. The episode also stars Lito Pimentel, Encar Benedicto, Xia Vigor, Myel de Leon, Ynna Asistio and Maika Rivera. It is written by Akeem Jordan del Rosario and Arah Jell Badayos and is directed by Dado Lumibao.

Piolo Pascual Loves Being a Father to Inigo

Piolo Pascual accepted the role as Ryan because to him the story is “very noble.” Although he had a hard time portraying the role, he tells the Inquirer that the story will touch the hearts of Filipino viewers. He realized just how much Ryan has gone through as a father and is appreciative of it.

Piolo also recalls those special moments with his son. When Inigo turned 18, he became more open to sharing his personal experiences and stories to his father. As a 40-year-old dad, Piolo makes sure that he tries to be a friend to Inigo. To him, it was never difficult to be a dad because Inigo is “never stubborn.” His son is also humble and listens well. The only thing that saddens Piolo is that because of their schedules, they don’t get to spend time together that much because of school and Piolo’s work schedule. This is why Piolo says that he looks forward to Father’s Day on June 18.
